EmbedSocial alternative for Google reviews: an honest comparison

EmbedSocial vs Revys for Google reviews: per-source pricing, view limits, a tested iframe and AI review replies. Checked October 19, 2026.

Published

EmbedSocial is a lot more than a reviews widget. It's a user-generated content platform: reviews, Instagram posts, TikTok videos and social mentions you can embed on your website. If all you need is to show and manage your Google reviews, you may be paying for plenty you never use. This comparison helps you decide.

Checked on October 19, 2026 against EmbedSocial's public pages. Revys is our product, and we're flagging that up front so you can read this comparison with that in mind.

How we compared EmbedSocial and Revys

On the same day, we collected EmbedSocial's pricing page (plans, limits and FAQ), its Google Reviews Widget page, its AI review responder page, and the pricing page it redirects to for Google Business Profile management (localith.ai). We did not use a paid EmbedSocial account.

Here's how we tested rendering:

  1. We fetched the public page embedsocial.com/google-reviews-widget/ with curl, without running JavaScript. Its demo widget is a <div class="embedsocial-hashtag" data-ref="…">: an empty div.
  2. We read the ht.js script the page loads. It creates an iframe pointing to embedsocial.com/api/pro_hashtag/<id>/.
  3. We downloaded that iframe. It contains Google reviews, as JavaScript data. We took a sentence from one review and searched the host page's HTML for it: zero matches. The review text lives on embedsocial.com, not on the page displaying it.

What EmbedSocial does better than Revys

  • Every source in one tool. Google and Facebook reviews, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Trustpilot, all in walls and carousels. Revys only handles Google.
  • The template library. 258 ready-made templates plus an AI widget builder. Revys has 5 layouts.
  • Freshness. Updates as often as every 30 minutes on Premium, versus one nightly sync at Revys.
  • Deeper profile management. Through Localith: Google post scheduling, local rank heatmaps, multi-location listing reports.
  • Social and ecommerce. Social listening, UGC rights management, shoppable widgets with Shopify.
  • Scale. 400,000+ brands claimed, an extensive help center, and a site in seven languages.

Where Revys is different

Your reviews belong to your page. With the WordPress plugin or the server include, the review text sits in the HTML of your own URL. An iframe ties that content to the vendor's domain instead. AI crawlers, which weren't running JavaScript according to Vercel's December 2024 analysis, read your HTML, not an iframe loaded afterward. More in reviews and AI search.

No view quota. EmbedSocial's free plan stops at 500 views a month, then your widgets disappear until the next month. Revys has no view counter.

One price to display and reply. In Revys, display and AI review replies are in the same Pro plan, priced per location. With EmbedSocial, AI replies mean a second subscription plus credits.

How to switch from EmbedSocial to Revys

  1. Connect your Google Business Profile

Create a Revys account and authorize access to your Business Profile. Your reviews come in through the official API.

  2. Pick the closest layout

If you used an EmbedSocial carousel or wall, choose the Revys carousel or wall and reuse your colors.

  3. Replace the EmbedSocial code

Delete the embedsocial-hashtag div and its ht.js script. Install the WordPress plugin, the server include or the JavaScript snippet, depending on your site.

  4. Check the reviews are in the page

Open the page source (Ctrl+U) and search for a sentence from a review. With the iframe you couldn't find it; with the plugin or server include, it should be there.

  5. Keep EmbedSocial for the rest, or downgrade

If you also show Instagram or TikTok content, keep EmbedSocial for those sources. One fewer source may be enough to drop a plan tier.

FAQ

How much does EmbedSocial cost?

On October 19, 2026, EmbedSocial lists a Free plan (1 source, 500 views a month), Pro at $29/month (3 sources, 5,000 views), Pro Plus at $49/month (6 sources, 20,000 views) and Premium at $99/month (15 sources, 100,000 views). Yearly billing saves 20%.

What counts as a source on EmbedSocial?

One account, location or hashtag EmbedSocial pulls content from. One Google location, one Facebook page or one Instagram account each count as one source. Plans are priced by source count, and every plan includes unlimited widgets.

Does EmbedSocial reply to Google reviews?

Yes, through its Google Business Profile product sold on localith.ai, an organization linked to EmbedSocial: $9/month for up to 2 locations, then $6.60 per location per month, with AI credits sold separately at $0.15 each. It isn't part of the widget plans.

Can Google and AI crawlers read the EmbedSocial reviews widget?

In our test, the embed code is an empty div, and the script creates an iframe served from embedsocial.com. The review text belongs to that iframe, not to your page, so AI crawlers that only read your HTML don't see it.

What happens when you hit EmbedSocial's view limit?

Per its pricing FAQ, the limit is shared across all your widgets. Once you reach it, widgets stop showing until the count resets on the first of the next month, unless you upgrade. A view counts every time a page with a widget loads.

Will EmbedSocial or Revys get me review stars in Google search?

Not for a local business. Google doesn't show stars for reviews a business publishes about itself on its own website. Your stars come from your Google Business Profile in Maps and the local pack.
