Trustindex alternative: an honest comparison (pricing, HTML rendering, AI replies)

Trustindex vs Revys: public pricing, platforms, AI review replies and whether Google and AI crawlers can read your reviews. Tested October 19, 2026.

Published

You're using Trustindex to show Google reviews on your site, or you're about to, and you want to know what else is out there: something with AI replies included, monthly billing, or reviews that search engines and AI crawlers can actually read. Trustindex is a capable, very broad product. The real question is whether you need all of it.

Checked on October 19, 2026 against Trustindex's public pages. Revys is our product. We're saying so up front so you can weigh this comparison accordingly.

How we compared Trustindex and Revys

We only used public information collected on the same day: Trustindex's pricing page (including its free vs paid feature table), its Google Reviews Widget page, and the WordPress.org listing of its plugin. We did not use a paid Trustindex account for this comparison.

To check whether crawlers can read the reviews, we ran two tests:

  1. Hosted widget. We fetched the public page trustindex.io/google-reviews-widget/ with curl, without running JavaScript, the way GPTBot or ClaudeBot see it. The page embeds about ten demo widgets as <div src="https://cdn.trustindex.io/loader.js?…">. We then downloaded the content that script loads (a content.html file on cdn.trustindex.io), took a sentence from one review, and searched for it in the page HTML: zero matches. Same result on the homepage.
  2. WordPress plugin. We downloaded version 14.2 from WordPress.org and read the shortcode code. The free widget reads reviews from the WordPress database and prints them as HTML in PHP. Widgets from a Trustindex account are also served from a local HTML cache. The plugin itself advertises reviews "readable by AI crawlers".

What Trustindex does better than Revys

Trustindex is ahead on several points, and it's worth being specific.

  • Platform coverage. 133 sources versus one. A hotel that wants Google, Booking.com and Tripadvisor in one widget has no equivalent at Revys today.
  • Breadth. Review request email campaigns, NFC cards, badges, certificates, review images for social media, review translation into 52 languages. Revys does none of that.
  • Design options. 36 layouts and 25 ready-made styles, versus 5 layouts at Revys.
  • Track record. WordPress.org reports 1+ million active installs of its Google plugin, and there's a Shopify app plus many integrations.
  • AI-readable on WordPress already. The Trustindex plugin writes reviews into the HTML, just like the Revys plugin. On WordPress, rendering is not a differentiator.
  • Cheap multi-location entry. $125/year for five companies, widgets included, is hard to beat if you don't need automatic replies.

Where Revys is different

Revys does less, but goes further on three things.

AI replies are included. Trustindex gives you manual AI drafts for free but charges $29 per source per year for automatic replies. In Revys Pro, the AI writes in your tone and posts after your approval or automatically after a delay, while 1–3★ reviews stay in manual review. See AI review replies.

Reviews in your HTML, not just on WordPress. On a PHP or Next.js site, or any platform where you can add one server-side line, the server include inserts your reviews into the page before it's sent. Crawlers that don't run JavaScript still see them. Vercel's analysis of its network found that the major AI crawlers were not executing JavaScript as of December 2024. More in our guide to reviews and AI search.

Monthly, per-location pricing. No annual commitment required. Each extra location costs $3.90/month, then $2.20 beyond 20, which works for agencies and multi-location brands.

How to switch from Trustindex to Revys

Plan on about ten minutes. Your reviews don't move: they stay on Google.

  1. Create an account and connect your Business Profile

Sign up and connect your Google Business Profile through Google's official authorization. Revys pulls your reviews through the Business Profile API, not just the 5 the Places API returns.

  2. Pick a layout

Grid, list, carousel, wall or badge, in your colors. If your visitors are used to your Trustindex widget, match it as closely as you can.

  3. Install the method that fits your site

On WordPress, the Revys plugin: paste the connection secret and add the "Revys Reviews" block or the shortcode. On PHP or Next.js, the server include. Anywhere else, the JavaScript snippet.

  4. Remove the Trustindex widget

Delete the [trustindex …] shortcode or the loader.js tag from your pages, then deactivate the Trustindex plugin once every page is migrated.

  5. Check the page source

Open the page source (Ctrl+U, or Cmd+Option+U on a Mac) and search for a sentence from one review. If it's there, Google and AI crawlers can read it.

  6. Set up AI replies, then cancel if needed

If you used Trustindex's automatic replies, turn them off before turning on Revys replies so no review gets answered twice. Note your annual renewal date.

FAQ

How much does Trustindex cost?

On October 19, 2026, Trustindex's pricing page lists three annual plans: Single at $65/year (1 company), Pro at $125/year (5 companies) and Ultimate at $349/year (unlimited companies). There is also a free plan. Automatic AI replies are an add-on at $29 per source per year.

Is Trustindex free?

Yes. Trustindex has a free-forever plan, and its free WordPress plugin shows up to 10 Google reviews. According to its plan comparison, automatic review updates, the advanced layouts and rich snippets require a paid plan.

Can ChatGPT and other AI crawlers read reviews shown with Trustindex?

It depends on how you embed them. The hosted widget (loader.js) loads reviews with JavaScript: in our test, the review text was not in the page HTML. The WordPress plugin writes reviews into the HTML, based on the code of version 14.2.

What is the best free Trustindex alternative?

For Google reviews only: Revys Free (1 location, unlimited widgets and views, reviews in your HTML) or Smash Balloon's free Reviews Feed plugin on WordPress. If you need Facebook, Tripadvisor or Booking.com, Trustindex's free plan covers more platforms.

Can I switch from Trustindex to Revys without losing my reviews?

Yes. Your reviews live on Google. Once you connect your Business Profile, Revys pulls them through the official Google Business Profile API. Then you swap the Trustindex shortcode or script for the Revys one.

Will a review widget get me star ratings in Google search?

Not for a local business. Google does not show review stars for reviews a business publishes about itself on its own site, even through a third-party widget. Your stars come from your Google Business Profile in Maps and the local pack.
