How to add Google reviews to Divi with the Code module
Paste the Revys shortcode into a Divi Code module and your Google reviews render server-side, synced nightly. Works on Divi 4 and Divi 5. Setup and gotchas.

Your site runs on Divi and you want your Google reviews on it: on the homepage, above the footer, or on a dedicated reviews page. Divi has no Google reviews module, but it runs WordPress shortcodes anywhere you need them. That's all the Revys plugin needs.
What's the best way to add Google reviews to Divi?
The Revys WordPress plugin, with its shortcode in a Code module. WordPress renders the reviews on the server, so the review text is part of the page's HTML, and visitors load zero extra JavaScript.
| Option on Divi | Reviews in the page HTML | Readable by AI crawlers | Updates on its own |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revys plugin + shortcode in a Code module | Yes | Yes | Yes, nightly |
| Revys plugin + shortcode in a Text module | Yes | Yes | Yes, nightly |
| Revys script in a Code module | No | No | Yes |
| Testimonial or Text module, typed by hand | Yes | Yes | No |
Skip the script on Divi. It loads reviews in the visitor's browser, inside an iframe, and AI crawlers read raw HTML without running JavaScript: Vercel's crawler analysis (December 2024) found none of the major ones, GPTBot and ClaudeBot included, executing it. With the plugin, you get readable reviews for the same effort.
Why the Code module rather than a Text module: Divi's docs name "embedding third-party plugins by placing their shortcodes" as a core use of the Code module. A Text module runs shortcodes too, but it's built for formatted copy. The Code module takes the shortcode raw, with nothing wrapped around it.
How do you set it up?
About ten minutes. The plugin install is covered step by step in the WordPress plugin guide. Divi steps below follow Elegant Themes' Divi 5 docs; Divi 4 works the same way (add a row, then a module).
Set up your widget in Revys
Connect your Google Business Profile, then open My businesses › your business › On my website: your widget is already there (a carousel). Use Change style to pick another layout if you like (grid, list, wall or badge), in your brand colors. Set Widget language to English in the Content tab. You style the widget here, not in Divi.
Install and connect the plugin
Click Put on my website: Revys recognizes WordPress. Check your site's exact address, click Generate the secret and download the ZIP. In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, install, activate, then paste the one-time connection secret in the Revys menu. Status switches to "Connected" after the first sync.
Add a Code module
Open the page in the Visual Builder. Click the green plus to insert a row, then the gray plus inside the row to open the module list, and pick Code (or search for it).
Paste the shortcode
In the module's Content tab, paste the code Revys shows you, with your real widget ID:
[revys_reviews widget="YOUR_WIDGET_ID"]Don't wrap it in any tags. The plugin returns the complete widget, styles included.
Save
Press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac) or click Save, then exit the Visual Builder.
Check the live page
Open the page outside the builder, choose View Page Source (Ctrl+U), and search for a sentence from one of your reviews. If it's in the source, crawlers can read it.
How do you reuse the reviews across your Divi site?
Divi has two tools that save you from pasting the shortcode page by page.
| Goal | Divi tool | How |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews on every page (footer, pre-footer) | Theme Builder | Add the Code module to your global footer template |
| The same block on a few chosen pages | Divi Library, global item | Right-click the module (or its row), Save To Library, tick Save as Global, then insert it where you want |
| A different block per context | Not with the plugin | A WordPress connection sends the reviews of a single widget (one business per site), so every shortcode on the site shows that same widget |
A global item updates everywhere when you edit it once, which is handy if you ever swap widget IDs. Just don't show the same widget twice on one page.
Divi caching and Visual Builder gotchas
The shortcode rarely causes trouble. What trips people up is the gap between what the Visual Builder shows and what visitors get.
Divi's static CSS. Elegant Themes says a page that looks different in the Visual Builder and on the live site is "in most cases" a cache issue: clear the static CSS file under Divi → Theme Options → Builder → Advanced (the Clear button), then clear any third-party cache. That cache covers your Divi modules' styling only. The Revys widget carries its own scoped styles and doesn't depend on it.
Page caching. Revys pushes new reviews every night, but the plugin doesn't purge your page cache. With WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache or host-level caching, new reviews appear when the cached page expires.
- Keep your page cache lifespan at 24 hours or less.
- After a big new review: “Sync now” on the “On my website” page in Revys, then purge that page's cache.
- If the layout around the widget looks broken live: clear Divi's static CSS, then your page cache.
- Judge the result on the live page in a private window, not in the Visual Builder.
An empty module. If the Code module shows nothing anywhere, Revys most likely hasn't synced that widget ID yet, or the shortcode's ID doesn't match the widget linked to the connection. The status in WordPress' Revys menu tells you which; the WordPress plugin guide lists every message and its fix.
What's next?
The same plugin works with Elementor, which has its own caching quirk: see Google reviews in Elementor. To compare every method across platforms, read how to embed Google reviews on your website, and test any live page with our AI review visibility checker. Once reviews are on your site, Pro adds AI review replies you approve before they post, from $7.90/month for your first listing (pricing).
FAQ
Which Divi module should I use for Google reviews?
The Code module. Divi's documentation lists third-party plugin shortcodes as one of its main uses. Paste [revys_reviews widget="YOUR_ID"] into it and save; the Revys plugin renders the reviews on the server.
Does the Revys shortcode work with Divi 5?
Yes. Shortcodes are handled by WordPress, not by Divi, so the Code module in Divi 5 runs it just like Divi 4 does. Divi 5 left beta on February 26, 2026, and Elegant Themes said it would keep supporting Divi 4 for at least six more months.
Can I use Divi's Testimonial module for Google reviews?
Only by hand. The Testimonial module shows text you type in. It doesn't connect to Google, so you'd have to copy each review and update it yourself. The Revys shortcode keeps your Google reviews current automatically.
How do I show Google reviews on every page in Divi?
Put the Code module with the shortcode in a Theme Builder template, such as your global footer. Or save the module to the Divi Library as a global item and insert it on the pages you choose.
Why don't my reviews show up in the Visual Builder?
Most often Revys hasn't sent anything for that widget ID yet, so the shortcode outputs nothing. Check the ID (“Embed code” on the widget's card, “On my website” page in Revys), then click “Sync now” on that same page. Always judge the result on the live page.
Do I need to clear Divi's static CSS when reviews change?
No. The Revys widget ships with its own scoped styles, so Divi's CSS cache doesn't affect it. A page cache plugin can serve an old copy, though: purge it or keep its lifespan at 24 hours or less.
Will Google reviews on my Divi site give me stars in search results?
No. Google doesn't show stars for reviews a business displays about itself (self-serving reviews). The Revys plugin outputs only Organization or LocalBusiness markup, never AggregateRating.
