Your JSON-LD

To generate the code, fill in: name, street address, ZIP or postcode, city, country.

Paste this block into the <head> of your homepage or Contact page (once per location), then test it:

Left out on purpose: no rating (AggregateRating) and no reviews (Review). Google doesn't show stars for reviews a business publishes about itself.

What does LocalBusiness structured data do?

Structured data is a small block of code, invisible to visitors, that describes your business in a shared vocabulary (schema.org): its name, type, address, phone number, hours, location on the map and official profiles. Google recommends the JSON-LD format, placed in a <script> tag on the page.

This markup helps Google, Bing and AI assistants tell exactly which business your site is about, and connect your website, your Google Business Profile and your social accounts to the same entity. According to Google's documentation, it can also feed the business details shown in Search, such as opening hours. Google only requires two properties: name and address. The rest (phone, URL, hours, coordinates) are recommended.

What this markup won't do

It won't put stars next to your site in Google, and it doesn't guarantee any ranking. That's why this generator never adds AggregateRating (average rating) or Review, on purpose.

Google's review snippet documentation is clear: if the entity being reviewed controls the reviews about itself, its pages that use LocalBusiness or any other type of Organization structured data are ineligible for star ratings. This is the self-serving reviews rule, in place since 2019. The same page also says not to aggregate reviews or ratings from other websites, so copying your Google reviews into JSON-LD on your own site is out.

Adding a rating anyway gains nothing and can backfire: markup that breaks the guidelines can lead to a manual action, and the affected page then loses eligibility for any rich result. Your reviews are still worth showing on your site, as visible text, not dressed up as structured data.

How to fill it in and install it

A few rules for accurate markup:

  • use exactly the same name, address and phone number as your Google Business Profile: consistency across sources matters more than the number of fields;
  • pick the most specific type (Dentist, Restaurant, AutoRepair…), otherwise LocalBusiness;
  • coordinates need at least 5 decimal places, as Google asks; right-click your business in Google Maps to see them;
  • in sameAs, list only profiles that are really yours (Facebook page, Instagram, LinkedIn, Yelp, Wikidata);
  • hasMap takes the share link of your Google Maps listing;
  • only mark up information that is also visible on the page: Google requires markup to match the content.

Paste the block into the <head> of the page that represents the business, usually the homepage or Contact page. On WordPress, a code snippet plugin or your theme's header field works; on Wix, Squarespace or Webflow, use the page's custom code area. For several locations, create one block per location, on each location's page.

Then test the page with Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator. A warning about a recommended field doesn't block anything; an error needs fixing. If you use Search Console, request a recrawl afterwards.

Privacy

The code is generated in your browser: nothing you type is sent to any server, ours or anyone else's, and nothing is stored. Close the page and it's gone. The business name is escaped so it can't break the <script> tag on your site.

FAQ

Does LocalBusiness structured data show stars in Google?

No. Google doesn't show stars for reviews a business publishes about itself using LocalBusiness or Organization markup (the self-serving rule). This generator adds no rating and no reviews.

Which properties are required?

For Google, name and address. Phone, URL, opening hours and coordinates are recommended: add them if they're accurate and visible on the page.

Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?

In the <head> (or body) of the page that represents the business, usually the homepage or Contact page. One block per location, per page.

Do I need to update the code when my hours change?

Yes. The markup should match reality: update it at the same time as your Google Business Profile and your Contact page.

Can I mark up my Google reviews on my website?

No. Google says not to aggregate reviews from other websites in structured data, and a business's own reviews about itself don't earn stars. Show your reviews as visible text instead, without Review markup.

Is the information I enter saved?

No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.
